The future of the dairy industry depends on the development of a solid group of experts entering the industry. The Lely North America Future of Dairy Scholarship Program provides support to those pursuing college programs centered around the dairy industry.


Five (5), one time/non-renewable, $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to five (5) deserving, qualified students who are legal residents of the United States or Canada. Students must be at least 18 years of age, full-time students enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education for the 2019 – 2020 academic year, past or current members of 4-H or FFA and who have the consent of their parent or legal guardian if under the age of majority in their province or state of residence. Students must also express an interest in a dairy related career path by pursuing one, or more, of the following areas of study:

Complete the application form below. Students must submit:

  1. An essay response to the following question (500 – 700* words): “How would you describe the short-term and long-term benefits of using robotics to a dairy producer and explain how an investment in robotics could benefit the dairy?”
  2. A 1 – 2 page personal resume depicting their previous leadership/organizational involvement
  3. A letter of recommendation from their 4-H or FFA advisor/leader/youth coordinator
  4. A letter of recommendation from an academic advisor

*Essays beyond 700 words will be penalized.

All four documents must be submitted via this Lely web page in order to be eligible.


  • The submission link will open September 9, 2019 12:00 AM CDT and will close October 31, 2019 11:59 PM CDT.
  • Winners will be notified on or before December 6, 2019. Winners will be publicly announced no later than December 20, 2019.
